What pilots need to know to prepare for the IFR written examination

by Rick Stevens

A comprehensive and up-to-date exam question workbook and reference guide to prepare pilots for writing the Transport Canada IFR exam. The workbook covers over 500 exam questions similar to Transport Canada’s exam questions. This workbook is used by the AeroCourse instructors for IFR exam preparation training seminars and can be purchased along with the seminars as a combined price, when registering for AeroCourse IFR seminars.

The eighth edition has an updated Met Practical section with a new weather exercise; a completely updated Flight Planning section with the new format of the Canada Air Pilot charts and all the associated questions. The new look of the charts is intended to increase consistency and overall usability, as well as to accommodate the electronic flight bag use of iPads and other tablets. These changes affect all the types of charts including Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP), Standard Instrument Departures (SID), Standard Terminal Arrivals (STAR) and Aerodrome Charts and we have included examples of all these. The GNSS has also been revised to further reflect the ongoing shift to GNSS approach procedure. The Canadian Air Regulations & Airspace section has also been updated with questions to reflect the change in regulations. Referencing the answer key has also been made easier in this edition.
