Canada is the second largest geographic country in the world and has a total population of about 33 million. Canada is just north of the United States and the majority of the country’s population lives along the southern border. Canadians are hospitable, welcoming tolerant people. Canada is proud of its multicultural composition and welcomes visitors and newcomers.
The climate in Canada depends on the region you are visiting and the season of the year. In Kitchener the summers are warm (15 to 30 degrees C) and the winters are cold (-20 to +10 C). Student pilots will experience flying in weather that includes rain, snow, wind, sun, very warm and very cold.
International students have the option of working while they study in Canada. Students may also have the opportunity to gain Canadian work experience after they graduate. If an International student wants to choose Canada as their permanent home there are a number of ways to apply and in most cases the student will be able to apply without leaving Canada. The new Canadian Experience Class makes application for permanent residence must easier. With at least one year of work experience you may be eligible.

WWFC is one of the largest professional flight schools in Canada. We are located one hour west of Toronto in the tri-cities of Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge. WWFC has been training pilots since 1932 and is registered as a Private Career College with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. This provides students with assurance of the school’s credibility. WWFC is a not-for-profit corporation which means that all surplus funds are reinvested in the centre, not paid to owners.
Since 1996 we have been offering a two year diploma program in partnership with Conestoga Community College. More recently, we established a four year degree program with the University of Waterloo. These two programs offer students a diploma or degree along with commercial multi-IFR pilot qualifications.
We also offer professional pilot training as stand-alone programs and we have had recent experience training International students. Our 16 month ‘fast-track program’ is our recommendation for international students. Some of our International students returned to their home after completion while others have stayed in Canada to work in aviation. Our program design is flexible and can be modified to meet the licensing requirements of most countries.
Our new training building was completed in 2009 and we have a fleet of 23 aircraft available for training.
Our airport has daily airline service, with a control tower and multiple IFR approaches, yet the uncontrolled airspace of our practice area is just 5 minutes away!
WWFC is in an excellent location, has highly qualified staff, a large fleet and nearly 80 years in business.

WWFC will work with students during the licence conversion process to ensure that all required documentation is certified correct before returning home. For details on Licence Conversion from a foreign licence to a Canadian Licence, please refer to the Transport Canada Foreign Applicants website. Please note that you will need to refer to your own country’s Civil Aviation Authority upon completion of your training to convert your Canadian licence back to a valid licence in your home country.
The Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre is committed to assisting students in finding Canadian accommodations near the flight-training centre. There are many housing options due to the existence of a college and two universities in the Waterloo region. The cost of accommodations will be in addition to the flight training program costs. Living expenses (housing & food) are estimated between $800.00 and $1,000.00 Canadian dollars per month (based on shared accommodations).
While WWFC does not endorse the following websites, many students have been successful in locating living arrangements by visiting the following websites:
http://kitchener.en.craigslist.ca/ and
http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/f-housing-W0QQCatIdZ34
The Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre may facilitate students in arranging transportation to and from the flight-training centre in the form of car pooling. The cost of transportation will be in addition to the flight training program costs. Outside program transportation, in the form of taxi, city bus, bicycle, etc. will be the responsibility of the student.
For our International Student application form, please contact Bob Connors, General Manager . Once you have completed the application, forward it to WWFC along with the $ 1000 Canadian application fee. Once we receive your application it will be reviewed to determine that you meet the admission requirements.
